Bit of news on Romania today..
NBR (National Bank of Romania) Governor, Mugur Isarescu, stated for Financial Times that Romania does not need a spectacular comeback - thinking at the estimated economic increase of 1.3% envisioned by the Romanian authorities and IMF (International Monetary Fund) for this year. His main concern is not to let the RON apreaciate too much as he doesn't want to discourage a comeback based on exports. - Isarascu is the man who actually kept Romania from being bankrupt many times when our political governments took all anti - market economy measures. i truly hope he'll have a long life and he'll manage to keep Romania on the floting level because for sure the current government is making all efforts to take our country under the floating level
On Mediafax the prime minister of Romania said that "the salaries for management stuff of state owned banks like Eximbank can be reduced through law, even though the procedure is more complicated and the salaries of the banks directors can be alligned at least with the level of salary of NBR (National Bank of Romania) governor which by searching on Google is between 5000 to 7000 euros" - the idea is not bad...but come on...if the prime minister searches on Google the salary of NBR governor ...he is so lame ...
The Romannian Government endorsed the ordinance by which the budgetary wages earned by state employees in court this year are to be paid not this year as the court decided, but over a period of three years, between 2011-2013. - so who's looking now for a budgetary place to work in :-), of course all the political clientele of the governing party who's gonna get all the money they want anyway...
Among the 1000 wealthiest men in the world - top published by Forbes - there are 3 Romanians:
on 437 place - the richest Romanian alive is Dinu Patriciu who at 60 years old has 2.2 billion dollars form real estate, media and financial intermediation businesses.
The businessman has received over one billion euros in 2007, when he sold 75% stake in Rompetrol to kazahii KazMunaiGaz.Last year, Patriciu sold the rest of the company. Now he is involved in unconventional energy production in Mangalia and last year, he purchased the People's Bank of Georgia together with the former Prime Minister of ...guess who... Georgia of course.
My feeling on this is that the oil business is still very profitable...old news already :-) and that he is like the best slut ever just that he's using that as networking in business and not literally. Was arrested and stayed in jail for a period of time being acused of mendling with the stock exchange amoung others...
on 880 place - Ioan Niculae with 1.1 billion dollars - started in chemical industry and now he has one of the biggest business in agriculture on the Romanian market
The list of the companies he owns includes a variety of industries: refineries, farms, slaughterhouses, consultancy, property, safety and security, hotels and restaurants, bakery and 2 football clubs
His fortune can also be put to questioning particularly because of how he was invlolved in the privatization of the National Tobacco Romanian Company...i bet most of all his businesses now are based on that.
on 937 place - Ion Tiriac with 1 billion dollars - so the bank industry is also very profitable...no news here... The 70 years old man is in the business of banking and last year he made a deal with Daimler to sell its participation of 49% of Mercedes Benz Romania. He is also active in real estate, trade, finance, aviation and sports businesses.
As a major change in Forbes Top of the wealthiest men, media magnate Carlos Slim ħelu managed to officially surpass Bill Gates, after other rankings gives leadership position since two years ago. His fortune in the last 12 months rose to 53.5 billion dollars with 500 million dollars more than Gates.
