Why do I post sometimes in English

To all of you wondering why do I post sometimes in English, you should know I have 2 reasons for doing that:

1) As I don't use English very much lately I noticed I started to forget some words, some of them don't come to my mind so quickly and that is bathering to me, so I decided to use it as much as I can in order not to forget more and more.

2) I have some international friends that want to be able to read some of the stuff I'm writing about, so that's convenient for them too.

So, this is it. Nothing else.

New features on my blog

My blog has now 4 new features:
1) on the right side a slideshow with photos of some of the places i've visited and of course my current, updated magnet collection :-)))
I know I have to update it, so I'll have to visit very soon some more places and to bring back photos and...magnets of course :-))))

2) a Labels Section in order for everybody to easily scroll the information they want to read depending on their interests. I confess this also helps me keep track of what I'm writing about and how my own intrests vary from one post to another. So I've seen that in writing I dedicate less importance on friendship and funny - 2 of the things I value a lot in real life, but for friendship I believe real connections with real friends are more important than just talking about them and as for funny, indeed during the past several months I also negleted this part.

3) a Subscribe To section also on the right side, below the Romanian 100% section and just above the About me section. The name is self explanatory...for those who form time to time want and have time to scroll through my posts and they want to located the blog address very easily

4) a Video Bar section placed on the bottom of the blog, a section where there are some videos powered by You Tube with Elvis - my namesake. As I'm always "on the move" they'll probably be changed with other singers I really enjoy listening to or...perhaps it will get removed as I populate my blog with plenty of music and I'm not sure on the need of this gadget. For the moment it is there.

Did you know: Konosuke Matsushita founded Panasonic?

Source: Economist.com

In the West, Matsushita was little more than a well-known Japanese conglomerate until John Kotter, a management academic and recognised authority on leadership, wrote a book called “Matsushita Leadership” (Simon & Schuster, 1997), which won the Financial Times global business book of the year award and handed the little-known (and by then dead) founder of the eponymous company, Konosuke Matsushita (1894-1989), the mantle of global leadership greatness.

Unlike his rival Akio Morita at Sony, he was neither charismatically handsome nor internationally recognised. Unlike most well-known western politicians, he didn’t excel at public speaking, and in later years his voice grew increasingly frail. He rarely displayed speed-of-light intellectual skills or warmed an audience with hilarious anecdotes. Nevertheless, he did what all great leaders do—motivate large groups of individuals to improve the human condition.

He had none of the attributes of contemporaneous leaders in the West—of macho chauvinists like Jack Welch at General Electric, or of colourful characters like Sir John Harvey-Jones of Britain’s ICI. But still he could inspire large groups of individuals and he was known in Japan as the “god of management”. Kotter’s book set out to explore how he did it, through early hardship and a never-ending thirst for learning.

Matsushita was the son of a landowner who lost all his money, forcing Konosuke to go out to work in Osaka well before he was 16. He started as an electrician at Osaka Electrical Light Company, but then he invented a new sort of light socket and, at the age of 23, set up a company with his brother-in-law, Toshio Iue, to manufacture it. At first he produced his electrical goods under the brand name National, but later he introduced the name Panasonic, for which the company is best-known today. He ruled his companies with a considerable degree of paternalism and offered his workers employment for life.

In his later years he took to explaining his social philosophy and wrote a number of books. One of them, “Developing a Road to Peace and Happiness through Prosperity”, sold several million copies. Matsushita died at the age of 94, recognised before his death as one of the richest men in the world.

Madonna Concert in Bucharest

Yeah...it was...something with Madonna in Bucharest...I wouldn't call it a concert, but more likely aerobics of the "diva" on the stage...
If you didn't figure it out by now, these comments are coming from a person that is not a Madonna fan, but likes some of her old songs and I was hoping I would see a show put together. I was so wrong...
Things were like this, starting with the good things that were few and going to the bad things that were many:
1) Good things:
- how she looks and how energetic and fitted she is for her old age that anybody can admire
- the tribute song for Michael Jackson. She brought on stage somebody dressed like MJ and they played the hit
Billi Jean while there were some photos of MJ on the screens

next 3 i saw on TV spots because at the concert i was one of the many people who didn't see much:
- show choreography
- costumes - Madonna's and the dancer's
- movement on the stage

2) Bad things:
- the whole organizing was extremly bad
- location was chose very poorly: Izvor park is too little for the 60,000 spectators who had tickets, some say
that this show would have been more appropriate for a 20-30,000 spectators - I belive so too
- huge amount of dust raise up immediatly after the people entered the park and we inhaled tones of dust -
because of that some people got sick and they were transported on the stretcher to a more breathable area
- drinks...oh well, people stayed in huge lines to counters to get a damn drink and nobody could bring anything
to eat or drink from outside the park
- the hours for entrance were set up too early - starting with 5 pm up to 8 pm while the concert started at
9:50 pm. I got there at 6:30 pm and still after 3 hrs and 20 mins I was so bored and my legs hurt that I just
wanted to go relax anywhere else, but...i still just suffered for less than an hour at this stupid concert,
because imagine I didn't stayed 2 hours for the concert duration and...I don't feel bad at all, in fact, I
should have left earlier, perhaps before it started ;-)
- the scene was way to small and at an extremly low hight, meaning you couldn't see it from most angles. People
in sector A and B standing up couldn't see the stage because most of them were too far away and they also
couldn't see the screens as they were like small LCD's. I understood this stage was brought from Sweeden
where she had only 40,000 spectators. While the people standing couldn't see the stage because they were too
far off or because of the trees or of the light projectors standing in the way. Also even the people who paid
200 euros on the ticket standing the the "Gold Bar" area complained they didn't see. Even the VIP tickes were
sitted sideways of the stage so I bet they didn't see much either..
- the sound was poor
- Most the the songs were playback and it's not only me who is thinking that. The voice sounded processed with
all kinds of sound effects that couldn't be sang live and when she finally tried something live: "La Isla
Bonita" or "Like a prayer" she didn't seem to have much voice, but oh well, apparently all people who are not
her fans know and don't expect voice from Madonna.
- She didn't do any bis at the end. True, the public didn't cheer much ;-), even sometimes some of the people
in public have booed her

here she says - "come on Romania, you can do better than that ;-))))))))))))))"

- She shouldn't have talked about discrimination of gypsies in Eastern Europe as long as she hasn't took her
money from gypsies and she doesn't know crap about this subject. She said: "it was brought to my
attention..", so -sorry for the bad language - but who the fuck cares what was brought to her attention? If
you don't live and really know stuff about a situation, just shut up and do what you are supposed to do for
the huge amount of money you are paid (she was paid aprox 4 million euros for the crap concert in
Bucharest)... If she was hired as a human ights ambassador I would have understood, but she would have been
broke if that was the case
- she did what she does lately, namely she kissed one of her dancers, a lady dancer dressed in bride.. this is
i guess one of her shoking tricks, but i wonder...isn't that a too old and practiced trick even for her?
Conclusion:
1) People should stick doing what they are paid for.
Personal opinions regarding anything else than what you are paid for should stay personal and discuss them with friends if you want and they want to hear, but otherwise leave personal opinions at home if you are just a singer paid to sing and concentrate on your voice or, if you don't have one, at least concentrate on you show - lights, sound effects etc

2) Even if you are a well know singer, be on time for the show, don't let the public wait 1 hour after you were supposed to start the concert and after another 4 hours they've been waiting since the concert gates opened.

2) It is I believe the singer's responsability to make sure organizers of her/his concert are doing a good job for the public - they are the ones paying the tickes, thus is not only her wants and needs for the stage and hotel (which i understand are huge, but i'm not debating that), but it should be her wants and needs for the public

3) Organizers should take responsability for the total disaster of the concert they mismanaged

4) Sponsors should not be confused with organizors, sponsors just pumped money into the concert so it happens and so they get promoted - so, from this prospective those thinking Vodafone - who was one of the major sponsors - had anything to do with organizing the concert, they should think again and not blame it for how it was organized, blame Emagic...

5) If you value a singer and you want to see a concert with him/her, just buy tickets for his/her concerts in Europe and perhaps that way is more likely that you'll be properly impressed, for the time being, Romania doesn't have the experience and the places to organize big concerts...

About stress...

I found an interesting paragraph about stress that i felt i should share with you guys:

"You are responsible for all of your experiences of life."

This statement is absolutely true but it is somewhat of a trick. The trick is that it does not say "in life" but "of life." You are not responsible for everything that happens to you, but you are responsible for how you react to what does happen to you. The formula is that, "Life acts. You react." Your reaction is under your control. In any life situation you are always responsible for at least one thing. You are always responsible for the attitude towards the situation in which you find yourself. Your attitude is your reaction to what life hands you. You can have either a more positive or a more negative attitude. Your attitude is under your control and can be changed. With the right attitude you can be a resilient person.

and for all of you aries, taurus ang gemini out there...
Aries (March 21 to April 19)
You count on your dynamic Ram energy to get you through the day, and feel vulnerable when it runs out. Especially when you're down or ill, you feel overwhelmed and stress about all the tasks you can't accomplish. You're used to playing Superman or Superwoman, and forget to take time off and be a lazy slug. Be religious about setting aside at least one full day a week to play or do nothing. Life will continue without you!

Taurus (April 20 to May 20)
More than anything else, Taurus, you want to be seen as competent. That's why you take your time to do things right. When a difficult task looms, you fear you won't have enough time to do it properly and might mess it up. As a peacemaker, you also stress when you've hurt someone's feelings or can't resolve a dispute. Fall back on your infallible instincts and trust that your true worth and honesty will ultimately prevail.

Gemini (May 21 to June 20)
You don't suffer fools gladly, Gemini. When the car in front of you pulls a bone-headed move in traffic, your stress-o-meter hits the roof. And, little things get to you -- like words being mispronounced or misspelled. You're apt to blow a gasket dealing with slow or stubborn people, where you feel like you're talking to a wall. You need regular activities that calm your overactive mind, like yoga or throwing pots in a ceramics class.

A trai frumos....

http://venicexplorer.net/tradizione/redentore/slides/venice-redentore-fireworks.html
http://www.italyguides.it/us/venice_italy/doge_s_palace/the_bridge_of_sighs.htm

IN MEMORIAM - TATIANA STEPA - FOLK-ul a pierdut o voce simbol a genului
